The Bus Eireann dispute took a nasty turn today with workers from Irish Rail, Dublin bus and some private bus companies refusing to pass the picket. It resulted in thousands of people being disrupted on what they thought would be a normal Friday morning commute to work.
Some rail and Dublin Bus services are beginning to resume but knock on effects of back logs and traffic are still causing issues after the surprise pickets. Public transport services were severely disrupted from early this morning as the Bus Éireann dispute entered its eighth day with surprise pickets at other transport depots.
The NBRU said it has advised its members that the unofficial action was not sanctioned by the union and all workers at Iarnród Éireann and Dublin Bus, who are members of the NBRU, should be at work as normal today.
Iarnród Éireann said services on its Intercity and Commuter routes are resuming but warned of delays and knock-on cancellations from this morning"s shut-down.
Do you condone or condemn the snap strike by refusing to pass the picket?
